Focus on Evaluation
The Institute for Child Health Policy conducts evaluations of Medicaid and
S-CHIP programs for several states, including Florida and Texas. Evaluation
research from the Institute informs several State agencies and the legislature
in their efforts to evaluate and improve services for vulnerable populations.
Enrollment, claims, and survey data are used to identify areas such as
satisfaction with health care, health care use patterns, and the quality of care
for children, youth, and adults. The relationship between program financing,
health care expenditures, and the quality of health care provided to program
enrollees is also examined. In addition, the impact of programmatic and policy
decisions on program participation, quality of care, and health care
expenditures is assessed.
